WIP Hetalia OC: Nyo!talia Gabi (aka Ulrich)

Okay, before anyone gets on their high horses and protests "But-but-but BAVARIA IS CANON AND HE'S /ALREADY/ A BOY!," I may need to remind some folks that I built Gabi APH OC: Freistadt Bayern at least a year before he appeared in the comics, and it really doesn't matter if someone else does another take on the same country. When the Nyo!talia craze came about, I wanted to hop on the bandwagon, so I built what I felt was the best representation I could of Gabi as a man. I drew this ages ago, and now he reminds me of a Southern German Big Mackintosh from MLP.  Eeeyup.

I named him Ulrich, after my German grandfather. Although my Großpapa is actually of Prussian descent, my Großmama was from Franconia, and while I'm aware Franconians don't think much of Bavarians, they're next-door neighbors. I did some research, and ironically, Ulrich is also used in Bavaria. And I wanted to honor my Großpapa in some way after peppering him with research questions about the parts of Deutschland.

Like Gabi,  Ulrich is a good-hearted farmhand type who hides a remarkable talent for diplomacy and unexpected grace in formal situations. And his place invented Oktoberfest.

Again, I want to go back and color this, but for now, uploading it after waiting for all this time makes me happy.
